Setting time and spending limits
A useful limit is decided before play and remains in place when a session becomes emotional.
Set two boundaries
Choose a S$ amount you can afford to lose and a finishing time. Check whether an authorised service offers account limits or reminders, and use an independent timer as well.
- Count all deposits in one budget.
- Do not raise stakes after a loss.
- Leave when either the time or spending limit is reached.
Review outside the session
Look back at spending only after a break. If limits are repeatedly hard to keep, stop and seek confidential support from the National Council on Problem Gambling.
A practical check
Put the end time and S$ ceiling somewhere visible before a session. If the account offers a deposit limit, check when a decrease takes effect and whether an increase has a delay. Your personal limit still applies while a setting is pending.
